Comprehensive Exams
By performing routine comprehensive exams every six months, we’re able to monitor your oral health to detect problems in development. Early detection allows us to address your needs before major complications occur and provides the opportunity to create a more cost-effective plan. Comprehensive dental exams include oral cancer screenings, professional cleanings, and a thorough assessment by the dentist.
Oral Cancer Screenings
Early detection is key to managing oral cancer. When abnormal tissue in the mouth is discovered while it is still small, timely treatment can save lives. It’s important to know that while tobacco and alcohol use increase your risk, you can still develop the disease even if you don’t smoke or drink. Our visual and manual oral cancer screenings, combined with Velscope technology, are thorough and effective at identifying early markers for disease.
Imaging
Paragon Dental only uses digital imaging to get a detailed representation at what’s going on under the surface of your mouth. Digital imaging is safer than traditional x-rays, with 70 to 80% less exposure to radiation. These high-resolution images display your bones and jaw with determinate accuracy, allowing for diagnosis and treatment of issues with efficiency and effectiveness. They are extremely informative and easily shared with patients, providing an in-depth assessment of oral health needs.
Hygiene
The key to a maintaining healthy teeth is proper oral hygiene. A professional cleaning by our skilled hygienists is recommended every six months. We use Piezo, a cutting-edge technology designed to reduce the need for hand scaling. This advanced cleaning system utilizes ultrasonic waves and water to rid teeth and gums of disease-causing bacteria, plaque, and tartar for a deep clean you can feel.
Periodontal Therapy
We stress the importance of healthy gums by monitoring your mouth for signs of gum disease such as swollen or bleeding gums, receding gumlines, and visible infections. We’ll customize a periodontal treatment plan to combat existing gum disease, as well as prevent it from coming back. We do scaling and root planing in our office, while advanced cases will be referred to a periodontist.
Fluoride Treatments
Tooth decay is an all too common problem, but it can easily be prevented with good dental hygiene and regular topical fluoride treatments. For children and adults who have a high rate of dental decay, we recommend fluoride treatments at every visit. Topical fluoride treatments can assist in strengthening teeth to be more resistant to acid and guard against cavity-causing decay. We understand fluoride treatment may not be for everyone which is why we always encourage our patients to ask questions about alternative options. Our team will work together to address concerns, creating a personalized treatment you can trust.
Cavities and tooth decay can lead to aches, infections, and loss of teeth if untreated. However, good dental hygiene and topical fluoride treatments can help prevent pain and future procedures. We recommend fluoride for children and adult patients with a high rate of decay, but we also know that fluoride therapy may not be for everyone. As practitioners of bio-friendly dentistry, Paragon Dental understands the potential risks fluoride can have on overall health. A good oral health regimen coupled with appropriate nutrition has also proven effective at decay prevention. We encourage our patients to ask questions about alternative options. Our team will work together to address concerns, creating a personalized treatment you can trust.
Mouthguards
Sports mouthguards and nightguards can be an essential and effective means to help prohibit damage while playing your favorite sport or even getting a good night’s sleep.
Athletic Mouthguards
Both adults and children involved in sports know the benefits of a form-fitted mouthguard to protect teeth against a variety of hits and misses. We can help create a device that’s comfortable and capable of the highest level of protection to help keep you in the game. Our sports mouthguards can help reduce the risk of concussion and can be customized to perfectly fit your bite and uniquely represent your team.
Nightguards
These specially made guards can help protect and keep teeth strong following cosmetic or restorative work. They are also a good way to combat the damaging effects of bruxism, also known as nighttime grinding or clenching, that causes unnecessary wear on teeth leading to cracks or breaks in restoration.
Anesthesia
Whether dental examinations make you nervous, or you’re scheduled for a more advanced procedure, our anesthesia options can help ensure your visit is calm and comfortable. We offer nitrous oxide, oral medication, and IV sedation performed by an anesthesiologist. With so many options to choose from, there is a method of personal sedation for relaxation from dental anxiety that will effectively provide relief during any type of treatment.
